Corona Immunitas Ticino: serological tests welcomed with a smile

The serological tests of the population's young representatives were accompanied by the smile and friendliness of the Clown Doctors. In the last few weeks, blood samples were collected from 1000 people selected by Corona Immunitas Ticino, which aims to determine the impact of the coronavirus, its spread and the development of immunity in the Ticino population. The project, conducted by the Institute of Public Health of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), the Department of Business Administration, Health and Social Sciences of SUPSI, in collaboration with Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC), has entered the heart of its second phase. Children (from 5 to 13 years old) were involved in serological testing at USI East Campus and Canavée Building at the Academy of Architecture.
Drawing blood is not a pleasant experience for adults, let alone children. For this reason, the Corona Immunitas project brought together the Clown Doctors of the association Ridere per Vivere Ticino intending to put a smile on the children's faces and making them feel at ease.

Collaborations with the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC), the Laboratory of Applied Microbiology SUPSI, GIIPSI, BeeCare, the Medical Center (Lugano centre, Bellinzona, Locarno and Chiasso), UniTI, the Sasso Corbaro Foudation and at the fire department of Faido, Tre Valli Soccorso, Biasca and the protected civil protection plant in Acquarossa continue.
